This is an annual trip for first years and
they usually love these few days away. On Friday 4th May first
years left Callan at 7.00am and travelled by coach to Dublin
where they had a comfort stop at the Liffey Valley shopping
centre and then two more hours to Belfast. Here they were
met by a guide – Mr Anwin and he took them to the shops
and later on a guided tour of the city to include City Centre,
falls road, Belfast castle and the famous Dividing Wall. At
5.pm we departed the city for the Leisureplex in Lisburn,
here they enjoyed the slides and water activities. At 10pm
we left Lisburn for the final leg of our journey and headed
for Carlingford.
Saturday and Sunday were packed with various activities which
included canoeing, abseiling, rock climbing, high ropes and
orienteering. After our midday meal on Sunday we reluctantly
set to packing our bags for our journey home.
6th Year Geography Field Trip
On Wednesday the 11th of October 2006 the
sixth year geography class under the supervision of Ms. O’Keefe
and Ms. Raggett undertook their Leaving Cert Geography Field
Investigation. The group travelled from Callan to Tramore
Strand in Waterford where they carried out various geographical
experiments throughout the day, including measuring the height
and length of waves. Despite the miserable weather on the
day all 19 geography students were enthusiastic in carrying
out their experiments and were not afraid to get wet! The
investigation, which is worth 20% of the Leaving Cert geography
course, was both successful and enjoyable
