As mentioned in our newsletter a group of 5th year students
in conjunction with Sr Anna Mai were hoping to raise at least
€600 in aid of the homeless in Kilkenny by getting the
teachers to dress up in the school uniform for a day. Did
they succeed?
On Tuesday December 15th teachers and students united as one
to raise much needed funds for the Kilkenny Homeless project.
The students from 5 St. Eithne’s ensured that all the
teachers were suitably attired in school uniform – looking
neat and tidy and “years younger”. At the annual
Christmas Carol Service a cheque for €760 was presented
to Fr. Willie Purcell on behalf of the Kilkenny Homeless Project
Thirteen fourth year students spent 2 days bag packing in
Dunnes Stores. They raised €2150.95. four students from
the group will travel as Youth Helpers with the Ossory Pilgrimage
May 22nd to 27th. – Aisling Dunphy, Doireann Mackey,
Séana McAliskey, Niamh O’Donovan were the lucky
students to come out of the draw.
Many students volunteered to take part in the
Trocaire 24-hour fast in order to raise funds for long-term
development programmes in the world’s poorest countries.
The school’s donation of €4084.28 will have a real
and lasting effect on the lives of poor communities throughout
developing world.

On February 1st, the whole school attended Mass in the Parish
Church in Callan at 10.00am to celebrate the feast of St.
Brigid. This special mass was broadcast on local radio. Eavan
Gaffney and Róisín Jackman led the singing

Students gathered in Year Groups to attend the sacrament of
Reconciliation in the Convent Chapel.
28 Mar
The first year students accompanied by their Religion Teachers
travelled to the Edmund Rice Centre in Westcourt. The day
included a DVD on the life of Edmund Rice, a visit to Edmund’s
birthplace, prayer, reflection and some fun!
