Skills @ Wor
k Programme

A new and exciting Skills @ Work Programme is coming on line next year for all 5th year students. It promises to be innovative and creative bringing the world of work closer to the student. The learning outcomes of the programme are based on the syllabus of the Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme. It prepares young people for adult life by ensuring they are educated in the broadest sense with an ability to cope and thrive in an environment of rapid change. Participants in the programme are encouraged to develop key skills that are relevant to the needs of those preparing for further education, seeking employment or planning to start their own business. These skills and competencies are fundamental to both academic and vocational success. Already activities and speakers have been organised for next year. Students are guaranteed a fulfilling learning experience. We look forward to making the programme a success.

Business exposed

St Brigid’s has forged a new relationship with a global company, Diageo. This is a fantastic opportunity for our students as they will now have the practical business expertise and experience this firm has to offer. The staff of Diageo have already delivered a talk to the present 6thyr business and LCVP students covering many areas of the business course. John Dowling and Gerry Massey are very enthusiastic and committed about next years programme and have very kindly given freely of their time in the planning and preparation of it.
